Varsity running back Gabriel Lockett scored two of the seven touchdowns for Captain Shreve in the 2026 jamboree at the Lee Hedges Stadium. Beneath the Thursday night lights, Shreve defeated Byrd, coming home with a final score of 49-21.
Senior Gabriel Lockett is known for his hard work and dedication to Shreve football.
“Gabe is probably one of the hardest workers that we have,” says running backs Coach Kenneth Smith.
Lockett fumbled the ball early in the game, but came back after a few plays to score his first touchdown of the night.
When Gabe was asked what his favorite play of the night was he explained, “My favorite play would be when I scored the first touchdown coming off a bad play, I really needed that so it was a really big up for me.”
Lockett’s teammates know that he is a powerful weapon for their team.
Chris Hill II says, “ Gabe is a tough player and a strong downhill runner.”
Throughout his career he has developed a reputation as a dependable offensive weapon.
“It does not surprise me when he scores touchdowns on Friday nights,” said Coach Smith.
Lockett and the Gators expect to have a lot of success this season, possibly even “breaking the second round curse” of the playoffs according to Smith.
