Librarians Mrs. Long and Mrs. Barclay.

Imagine a world without librarians – a world where the doors of knowledge and discovery remain closed. Librarians are essential for stimulating a love of learning, promoting literacy, and shaping the minds of future generations. We have phenomenal librarians here in The Swamp!

Librarians play an essential role in making the school’s environment a better place. Here at Captain Shreve, we have 3 people who maintain our school’s library. Mrs. Barclay and Mrs. Long are the two librarians and Ms. Williams is the library’s clerk. They make the school’s library a comfortable place for anyone who walks in. They organize events and activities like book clubs, author readings, and more.

Our librarians make the library comfortable for all. You’re provided with comfortable seating options, so you can study, read, or even just relax. As you’re doing one of those things, Mrs. Long will often greet you kindly and ask how you are doing today.

They also host different types of activities in the library as you’re there.

To get people engaged inside, the library hosts activities like bingo, book club, and Christmas ornaments challenges.

Another regular event is called Lunch and Learn.

 Activities in the Shreve Library

“Students can come in at lunch and learn new skills like how to make friendship bracelets, t-shirts designs, 3-D printing, and more,” stated Mrs. Long. “We do activities throughout the year to encourage people to come in and enjoy the environment.”

The library is a safe and welcoming place for all. The librarians here at Captain Shreve do a great job of making it suitable and entertaining for all. Anyone can come in and explore their interests, discover new books, and develop critical thinking skills here. Therefore, the librarians not only can help you find books, but help you find other things you’re interested in.
