Marleigh Brown, a student at Captain Shreve High School, has been recognized for her outstanding achievements both inside and outside of school. Marleigh was crowned Homecoming Queen for the 2025-2026 school year. This nomination not only reflected her popularity among peers but also her dedication to leadership and service.
In addition to being crowned Homecoming Queen, she was selected as the 2025 Louisiana Girls’ State Governor, making her the only student from Louisiana to earn this role. She also serves as the Co-President of Z Club and Vice President of the Gender & Sexuality Alliance, where she actively works to promote leadership, inclusion, and community involvement with over 400 service hours.
Teachers and peers would describe Marleigh as a kind, driven, and approachable leader.
Amelia Bakowski, a peer shared,” She’s a very sweet, outgoing and bubbly person and she’s not someone that is scary to talk to.”
Ms. Carrie Lordians described Marleigh as “personable, ambitious, yet practical,” emphasizing her balance of leadership and responsibility of her different clubs and organizations.
Ms. Hannah McKay also praised her character, saying, “ She is a special kid. She’s so talented and in so many different areas of life. I mean it’s remarkable – it’s hard to find someone who’s as kind, caring, empathic, creative, funny, intelligent and charming all in one person, but you find that in Mareigh.”
Even simple compliments about Marleigh can be heard all around the school.
“I love Marleigh,” said Ms. Laurie Carter in the front office.
Marleigh Brown’s achievements serve as an inspiration to Captain Shreve students, proving that hard work, kindness, determination, and leadership can make a lasting difference in both school and out of school.
