Planners changed things up for their Fall Open House on October 28

In the month of September it was announced that Drama teacher Heather Hooper and French teacher Carrie Loridans would be bringing back the school’s big open house performance.
“Covid took a lot away from us. It was nice to bring something that everyone could enjoy,” Loridans said.
Students were encouraged to sign up to either be a choreographer or a dancer.
Approximately 100 students participated in this production. All participants were excused from class on October 26 and 27 to practice. Students were able to complete preparations for the dance by that Friday.
Open house began with speeches from Student Council president Clifton Walker, PTSA president Amy Watts, Principal Robert Sivlie, and Assistant Principal Bryant Sepulvado.
“School is what you make it and open house is a great way to show future students all the opportunities waiting for them here,” Walker said.
Spirit group performances followed. Then, the long-awaited performance began. The students danced to music such as “Better Together” and “The Greatest Show.”
“I enjoyed participating in the performance. It was a great bonding experience for the team and I got to know other people around me, ” Highline member Caliyah Rayfus said.
Teacher Henri Loridans also brought something different to this year’s open house. Students and teachers were selected to be tour guides. Two students were assigned to one teacher and given a color for their group in order to lead their tours.
The 8th graders were led on guided tours around the school. The parents were encouraged to follow their programs and go on their own guided tours. When the tours ended, everyone gathered back in the gym. The band gave a small performance as a send off.
