On October 20, 2023, the senior class officers put on a picnic for all grades. The picnic was to help fund the seniors’ class gift to the school. The students had to have no F’s in their 6th or 7th hours, and no major referrals. The tickets were $20 each.
Free pizza, inflatables, and music were provided for all of the participants.
Every year the graduating class comes up with a gift that is based on the needs of the school. The 2024 seniors wanted to raise a large sum of money to give back to the school. In the past years, classes have given benches to the school and much more.
“Some gifts might be technology (like Chromebooks or presentation systems), wall or door wraps to improve the aesthetic of the school, etc.” said Maureen Barclay, senior class sponsor.
According to the administration, the school picnic was a good way to raise money because the cost was low.
Students were also able to bring their own food as well, but they were not allowed to leave campus to go get it during the school day due to liability rules. They had to get it before school and keep it until the time of the picnic.
The staff attending the picnic were Mr. Silvie, Mr. Supulvado, Mrs. Dalton, Mrs. Barclay, and Mrs. Long. They agreed that the picnic was a huge success. All of the teachers supported the fall picnic and encouraged the students to attend.
There were approximately 145 tickets sold to the picnic, raising $3,445 in profits.
There was much laughter surrounding the pavilion and out on the field. Many students were out and about enjoying themselves by hanging out with friends, playing board games, eating snacks, and playing football.
