On Friday, April 26 the annual senior sendoff was held for the Class of 2024.
At Captain Shreve, senior sendoff is a yearly tradition and every upcoming senior looks forward to being able to experience it.
Seniors went through their classes watching the senior slideshow which included a display of their baby pictures and current pictures,
At the end of the day, all seniors reported to the auditorium to meet before the send off. They cheered and shared moments with each other as this was their last official day as high school students.
“I am so excited for the senior sendoff, but I am scared since it is our last day on campus. It feels great to know that we are on the last step to graduation,” Maddi Ingram said. “I loved watching the senior slideshow because I was able to see the people I know and be around the people I love.”

Principal Robert Silvie cheered with the crowd and Assistant Principal Marita Hunt gave a speech.
Outside, band and spirit groups convened as students lined up and prepared to show support and cheer on the senior parade.
Once the seniors exited the auditorium they made their way around the school as a final walk through. They then headed back to the south parking lot.
Throughout this route, they were cheered on by teachers, students, and parents. They danced and enjoyed their final moments.
After exiting the campus into the Lee Hedges parking lot, seniors were able to reunite with their families. Throughout the day parents had come to decorate their cars.

They were able to eat Kona Ice and watch the band and spirit groups perform.
“I was very excited for the sendoff since we had the chance to celebrate, but I am going to miss all of my friends once I go to college,” Kaitlin Smith said.
This tradition marks the end of the high school experience for seniors. Although there are many sad emotions due to spending their last day on campus, this is an exciting time that allows for the entire senior class to celebrate before graduation.
