The Spring Musical Workshop was held on November 29 from 4pm to 7pm.

What exactly is the Spring Workshop and why is it important? According to Ms. Hooper, Shreve’s theater teacher, “The workshop is designed to help kids prepare for the auditions in January.  They will build confidence and knowledge about their voices.”

Hooper felt the workshop was a success. “We saw what we were looking for.  I think it is very important to see who is interested in the musical and assess their voices before selecting the show.”

Student Caliyah Amani described the workshop by saying, “It was a good experience. I was a little shy going into it but because of the environment and the energy I was around. I became less shy and embraced my talent. I left the workshop with more confidence that I will get to show off  in January.”

When asked if she thought the workshop was important to her Caliyah stated, “To me I think the workshop was important because I’m sure I wasn’t the only student who was shy going in and left confident in themselves for the auditions in January. So yes, I do believe it’s important because it prepared us for the auditions.”

Overall students enjoyed having the workshop in order to be prepared for what Hooper will expect at audition time.
