This Thursday, the 7th of March, was not only awkward for students, but for some teachers as well. It started with the pre-coding for Juniors, and staying in the gym for the rest who showed up in the morning. It was a not so exciting morning for the annual carnival.

Normally, for a day with an event such as the Gators For Good Carnival, the organizers would want as many people as possible to attend school in order to donate to the cause and have fun. Instead, the majority of the student body was advised by teachers to remain home, unless they wanted to check in.

Playing a bigger factor to the already jam-packed day, Thursday’s schedule was completely inconvenient and confusing to the students, and even some teachers. The schedule went as follows: Report to your testing room if you were a Junior. Go to the gym if you were not a Junior and decided to come in the morning. After pre-coding was over, all the present students were asked to go to their first period class until they were dismissed to go to first period lunch, or their fourth period class. Unfortunately, this meant that students lost time in their second and third period classes.

It was then when students got their carnival bands, letting you know if you would be attending the carnival, or if you were unfortunate, required to go to the auditorium because you had a discipline issue.

The worst scenario was if you were forced to go to school and were on the no-go list for carnival, you would have gone through the whole day at school for practically nothing.

Aside from the troubleshooting that happened, the carnival went off without a hitch. Students who were allowed to attend had fun, and ended with yet another wonderful time at the Gators For Good Carnival.

The Right Idea at the Wrong Time?
