Captain Shreve’s boys soccer teams started their season off with a win. Shreve Varsity boys played against Bossier High for one of their pre-season games. Both Varsity and Junior Varsity left Bossier High defeating the Bearkats.
Varsity played at a fast pace and controlled the level which led to a good start to the evening. Boy’s Varsity started with a 3-4-1-2 lineup with a collected backline, a tight mid-field, and fast offensive attackers.
The tension between plays really kicked in during the first half. Bossier’s offensive line played very quickly, with creative free-style moves. The Shreve boys knew how to collect their plays and break down every attempt Bossier made.
The Gators, both Varsity and JV played at a controlled rhythm with precise passes and multiple shots on goal. At the end of the first half the varsity game was 0-0. In the second half, players Andrew Bradford and Jose Gomez scored the winning goals. Bradford’s goal was a penalty kick, and Gomez had a normal goal.
The game had an interesting start, but it ended with the score of 2-1.
When asked about the pre-game feeling, player Mohammad Musa said, “I knew we were going to win.”
Junior varsity also defeated the Bearkats by a score of 2-0.
