Mackenzie Marshall shows off some of her track medals as she prepares to continue her career at the University of New Orleans.

In the middle of regular school day on March 31, 2026 at Captain Shreve High School, the gym foyer became the stage for an unforgettable moment. Surrounded by classmates, teachers, and supporters, Mackenzie Marshall officially signed her commitment to continue her track career at University of New Orleans.

For Mackenzie, this wasn’t just about signing a paper, but it is the result of years of hard work, discipline, and dedication to her sport. Since the beginning of her track journey, she has trained, competed, and pushed herself to reach this exact moment.

A significant milestone was reached as Mackenzie Marshall signed to compete in track and field at the University of New Orleans. The Division 1 signee has demonstrated consistent excellence throughout her high school career, balancing athletic performance with academic success.

Marshall expressed gratitude for those who supported her journey, while Coach Darryl Lewis commended her dedication, calling her both an exceptional competitor and a strong student. Her signing signals a promising future at the collegiate level. 

Mackenzie is not only signing for sports, but she is known to be exceptional in the classroom and as a student.

Coach Lewis states, “She is an exceptional athlete on the track and she is a phenomenal student in the classroom.”

This goes to show how well of a student she is and her willingness to help others when needed. For Mackenzie, the moment represents hard work and dedication.

Mackenzie states,” Getting the chance to have a signing day is a dream come true. All the hard practices, hard work and dedication is all coming together. Without the support of my family, friends and coaches, this would not be possible. Not only am I able to continue my sport on a collegiate level but at a division one school. I thank God for the opportunity and I’m thankful for the opportunity to attend the University of New Orleans.”

As she prepares to take the next step at the University of New Orleans, one thing is clear , this is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting future on and off the track for Mackenzie Marshall.
